About Us
Our Mission
The Campbell River Judo Club promotes discipline, respect, and personal growth through the practice of judo. We provide a safe, inclusive environment where students of all ages and abilities can develop confidence, physical literacy, and lifelong character through traditional judo.
Our History
The Campbell River Judo Club was founded in 1966 by Mr. Ramsey, whose dedication to martial arts and youth development laid the foundation for the strong, community‑focused club we are today. What began as a small group of local judoka has grown into a well‑established organization that has served Campbell River families for nearly six decades.
Over the years, the club has trained hundreds of students, supported athlete development, and contributed to the growth of judo across Vancouver Island. Our long history reflects the commitment of volunteers, instructors, and families who continue to uphold the values Mr. Ramsey introduced in the early days of the club.
Our Values
-
Respect — for self, instructors, and training partners
-
Discipline — through consistent practice and effort
-
Community — fostering teamwork, inclusion, and multigenerational participation
-
Growth — building skill, confidence, and character
Our Commitment
The Campbell River Judo Club is proud to be affiliated with Judo BC and Judo Canada, ensuring our programs follow national standards for safety and instruction. Our volunteer instructors include certified black belts and NCCP‑trained coaches who are dedicated to teaching judo in a structured, supportive, and accessible way.
